Carrie McInerney to Lead Transportation Technology Practice in the Northeast

New HDR Section Manager to Promote Innovative Tolling and Intelligent Transportation Systems Solutions

Carrie McInerney

Working from HDR’s Boston office, Carrie McInerney, P.E., will provide strategic leadership for state of the art technologies in tolling, intelligent transportation systems and traffic management. As a senior technical resource, she will help manage transportation resources, expand staff technical competencies, and increase emerging technology offerings and implementation for clients throughout the Northeast.

“Transportation is changing drastically in many parts of the country,” McInerney said. “Congestion is rising in areas where building new highway lanes is no longer feasible or responsible. Clients are increasingly turning to technology applications in new and innovative ways to change motorist behaviors and move more people instead of moving more cars.”

With over 27 years in the industry, McInerney has expertise in the areas of tolling, ITS and transportation operations. Spending half her career at state transportation agencies and the other half at transportation engineering consulting firms gives her a unique perspective. Most recently, McInerney served as the deputy director of tolling for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s All Electronic Tolling program. In her role, she helped lead critical aspects throughout the program lifecycle — from policy making to technical oversight to monitoring and approving key performance metrics.

“Carrie is a great addition to our team,” said Highways and Roads Director Bernie Arseneau. “Her expertise and diverse technical experience will play a key role in leading our transportation technology team to meet our Northeast clients’ evolving tolling, ITS and traffic management needs.”
