HDR’s Denver Architecture Team Selected for Belmar Library Renovation
Modernizing Library Services to Better Support the Community
The Jefferson County Public Library’s board of trustees has approved a contract with HDR to provide design services for a renovation of the Belmar Library in Lakewood, Colorado. Having opened in 2000 and the most recent update taking place in 2007, the library was due for a major refresh. The renovation will reflect new trends in library service, make better use of available space and update furnishings and fixtures.
Under terms of the contract, HDR will assist JCPL with gathering community input on the proposed designs and deliver a schematic design with preliminary budget figures. Design services began this fall, with construction planned for spring 2019.
Julianne Scherer, managing principal of HDR’s Denver architecture studio, the HDR principal on the Belmar project, has 24 years of experience on projects ranging from K-12 independent schools to public libraries and universities. "She has built an impressive track record of accomplishments,” said Donna Walker, JCPL executive director. “We look forward to working with her and the HDR team to make the Belmar Library all that it can be.”
“Our HDR team is ready to engage the Belmar community and turn their ideas into a design that best represents their values and needs,” Scherer said. “Working on projects driven by the community fuels our creativity. We are excited to partner with JCPL on this important project.”
