HDR's Roalson Receives AWWA George Warren Fuller Award

Shay Ralls Roalson receives pin from AWWA President Dave Rager

Shay Ralls Roalson, P.E., area water practice manager in HDR’s Austin office, has received the American Water Works Association’s George Warren Fuller Award from the Texas section. Roalson was formally recognized for her industry service at the organization’s state conference held in early April in Houston, Texas.

She has been a member of AWWA since 1994 and helped found the Austin chapter of the Texas section in 1997. She won the section’s inaugural Young Professionals Maverick Award in 2003. In 2005, she was elected as a section officer and became the first Young Professional to chair an AWWA section in the country. Roalson currently serves as chair of the Regional Activities Committee, which supports local chapters across the state. Throughout her career, Roalson has led multi-disciplined teams in the planning, design and construction of complex water and wastewater treatment, conveyance and storage projects. She has supported water utilities across Texas in the timely delivery of critical infrastructure, implementing creative solutions to meet their schedule and capacity needs.

“As a leader in the water industry, Shay not only embodies client service for our HDR clients, but also is committed through her involvement in AWWA and in her community,” said Kelly Kaatz, operations director for HDR’s south-central region. “We are very proud of Shay’s accomplishments and congratulate her as the recipient of the prestigious 2019 George Warren Fuller Award for Texas.”

The Fuller award, established in 1937, is given each year to members of the association, designated by the sections, for distinguished service to the water supply field and in commemoration of the sound engineering skill, the diplomatic talent, and the constructive leadership of the members of the association. George Warren Fuller was one of America’s most eminent consulting engineers.
