Jim Thomson Returns to HDR to Lead Central U.S. Health Practice
Jim Thomson, NCARB, AIA, EDAC, LEED AP, has returned to HDR as director responsible for the U.S. Central region healthcare architecture practice. Thomson will lead business development strategies for HDR offices in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Minneapolis and Omaha.
Thomson previously spent 18 years at HDR, most recently as managing principal of HDR’s Minneapolis office until 2017 when he departed for AECOM. During his time with HDR, Thomson contributed to several major projects with clients including Allina Health, The Mayo Clinic and Children's Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota.
“I believe that HDR is where I belong to be successful,” Thomson said. “I’m impressed with the ways we help our clients solve their most challenging problems to differentiate them in the healthcare market.”
Thomson’s experience spans 25 years in the architecture industry as a project coordinator, managing principal and regional leader. He also teaches courses on architectural professional practice at the Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis.
“We’re excited to have Jim's leadership and drive back in the Minneapolis office,” said Hank Adams, AIA, FACHA, EDAC, global director of Health at HDR. "His reputation, existing relationships and ability to quickly build new relationships position him as the best candidate to steer the Central region forward.”
