Jon Brooke Joins HDR as Site Design Principal
Jon Brooke, PLA, LEED AP, has joined HDR as site design principal.
Based in Chicago, Brooke will provide leadership to the site design team, furthering design excellence and growth of the practice.
Brooke looks forward to expanding the ability of landscape architecture to cross disciplines and areas of expertise within the architecture-engineering industry. “I believe HDR is a place where I can grow professionally because of our collaborative, multidisciplinary environment,” Brooke said. “I’ve really enjoyed working within large, diverse and integrated design teams, because collaboration and understanding makes good design better.”
With more than 27 years of industry tenure, Brooke has experience in all facets of landscape architecture, planning and design. He previously led and grew Design Workshop’s Chicago office and served as principal at Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects. Brooke is also a former instructor of Landscape Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology College of Architecture in Chicago, and at Leeds Metropolitan University in the U.K.
“Jon brings a well-rounded career in planning and design and valuable experience running a studio and winning work," said Jeff Fahs, HDR's site design director. "We are grateful he’s joined our team and welcome a new era of growth and design excellence under his leadership."
Brooke earned both his bachelor’s degree and postgraduate diploma in landscape architecture from Leeds Beckett University. He is LEED certified and a member of the Society for College and University Planning and the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Brooke was recently inducted as a member of the honorary land economics society, Lambda Alpha International.
