Terri L. Sudbrook Joins HDR as Health Principal
Terri L. Sudbrook, AIA, CSI, CDT®, has joined HDR’s San Francisco studio as a health principal.
In her new role, Sudbrook will lead business development efforts for the San Francisco health practice while also tackling project management as a partner in charge.
Sudbrook carries a passion for empathetic health design. “Good architecture creates a sense of empathy and compassion,” she said. “Successful healthcare design comes from placing yourself in the patient’s shoes, understanding how clinicians interact with their environment and recognizing our clients’ needs for architects to be good stewards with project costs and deadlines.”
With over 17 years of experience in healthcare architecture, Sudbrook contributes a breadth of knowledge and new opportunities to HDR and is already working with HDR’s designers and planners to serve healthcare clients in the California area. Sudbrook most recently served as director of healthcare projects at Noll & Tam Architects, working primarily on Bay Area projects with Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Tenet Healthcare, John Muir Health and Stanford Health Care.
“Terri’s depth of experience and ability to forge strong relationships with clients will assuredly further HDR’s reputation as a top healthcare design firm on the West Coast," said Cynthia Keeffe, AIA, ACHA, LEED BD+C, HDR’s director of health in the West Coastal region. "That connection with — and understanding of — our clients and the populations they serve is key to delivering the facilities that are needed for the future."
Sudbrook earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from The Ohio State University with a minor in City and Regional Planning. She is a past vice president of Construction Specifications Institute Santa Clara Valley Chapter and a member of American Institute of Architecture East Bay.
