Trenchless Technology Expert Paul Bearden Joins HDR
Paul Bearden has joined HDR as the trenchless crossings program leader. Based in the Houston, Texas, office, Paul leads a diverse team across the country dedicated to working alongside clients to integrate leading-edge trenchless technologies on their projects.
“I’m intrigued by highly technical, extremely challenging trenchless crossings, and excited to bring my experiences to HDR, where there’s such a depth of specialties to offer clients,” said Bearden. “Client success is paramount to me no matter the project — from large diameter pipe or long-length crossings to challenging subsurface conditions or other unique criteria.”
Bearden has more than 20 years of experience in the design, project management and construction of oil, gas, water and utility pipelines using trenchless technologies, specifically horizontal directional drilling. He’s led teams as a consultant and worked on rigs, bringing a depth of specialized expertise to his role. Prior to joining HDR, Bearden served as director of operational services for Lake Superior Consulting.
“Paul is seasoned in the horizontal directional drilling industry, and a tremendous asset to bring to our clients,” said Tom Young, director of HDR's oil and gas practice. “He’s helped bring many 'industry firsts' to fruition, including HDD crossings through permafrost on the North Slope of Alaska, and installing the first HDD crossing through a mountain with the rig inverted at a two-degree incline, uphill with no curves. He knows how to overcome tough obstacles.”
Bearden earned his bachelor’s degree in management from Mississippi State University, and is a long-standing member of the North American Society for Trenchless Technology and Pipeliners Association of Houston.
