We are pleased to announce that HDR, along with Chandos Construction Ltd. and Bird Construction Inc. (together referred to as CBH+), has been selected as the preferred proponent to execute, under an Integrated Project Delivery contract model, the design and construction of a major expansion at the McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, Ontario. HDR will lead architecture and design of the project which has a budgeted value of $135 million. Chandos and Bird are each 50% partners in the joint venture that will lead the construction.

“At HDR, we know firsthand the immense quality and added value that a strong IPD team can bring to a project,” said Dathe Wong, principal at HDR. “We are looking forward to working alongside our partners to design and deliver an internationally respected and transformative Life Science hub for McMaster Innovation Park.”

The design features the repurposing of an existing building at 44 Frid Street, of approximately 260,000 sq. ft., and its conversion into a Life Science hub at McMaster Innovation Park. The project focuses on the revitalization and renovation of the existing building and the transformational fit-out of the space to a world-class standard for laboratory space, offices, data center and other crucial life science programming.
