Mark Ellis Promoted to Transportation Operations & Maintenance Facilities Director
Mark Ellis has accepted a new role as HDR's transportation operations and maintenance facilities director.
Based in Houston, Texas, Ellis will provide strategic leadership for HDR's facilities design services organization and develop strategic visions and tactical plans to support the growth of the practice and technical capabilities of HDR staff. Most of his work will focus on transportation, but he will support business groups across HDR. A technical resource, Ellis will provide direct project support for key programs worldwide. He’ll focus on how we can help clients optimize their operations — from planning and design through operations and maintenance.
“HDR’s operations and maintenance facilities practice takes pride in looking at challenges and issues as solution opportunities,” said Ellis. “Our interactive approach and innovative facility solutions resonate with our clients and our portfolio of creative, safe, innovative and efficient facilities that truly support clients’ needs is our calling card. Because our clients’ facilities are pivotal to their effectiveness and success, we really focus on making those facilities work well for them.”
With 29 years of experience as a planner and functional design specialist, Ellis specializes in operations and maintenance facility planning and design. His experience includes facility master plans, facility conceptual designs, site selection studies, facility design criteria, equipment selection, specification and layout, and construction documents. Ellis has participated in the facility design of more than 250 successful projects around the globe and has worked extensively with agencies on their bus, rail and fleet maintenance facility needs.
“I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with Mark in this new role,” said Transportation Planning and Design Director Andy Lauzier. “Operations and maintenance facilities are key to many of HDR’s clients, and the expertise that will be provided under Mark’s leadership will continue to build on our ability to serve our clients and communities with full service consulting. The innovative and cost effective solutions we can deliver will continue to put HDR at the forefront of O&M facilities planning and design.”
Ellis earned his bachelor’s degree in geography from the Stephen F. Austin State University.
