Susana Erpestad Named Director of Federal Programs for HDR

Susana Andrade Erpestad, AIA, ACHA, NCARB, EDAC, LEED AP BD+C, has been named director of federal programs for the architecture practice. Susana will transition from her previous role of health principal within HDR’s Washington, D.C., practice to lead the firm’s global federal architecture market. She will assume responsibility for operating and growing the practice as well as for elevating and promoting HDR’s federal brand across all architectural market sectors.

“The federal practice is thrilled to have Susana join our team. She is well regarded throughout our industry for her expertise and technical know-how. In her new role, she will significantly improve collaboration and delivery as we work and deliver bold projects and ideas for our Federal clients around the world.” said Doug McAneny, federal practice president. 

A registered architect with 20 years of experience, Susana has led projects in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Since first joining HDR in 2010, Susana has grown within the company, gaining extensive experience leading teams, fostering client engagement, delivering complex projects, mentoring staff, and increasing market share.

Susana takes great pride in the contributions she makes toward developing her team members and the design outcomes that this approach brings to her clients. She also enjoys rethinking the strategic aspect of problem-solving during all project phases. Susana is passionate about the influence that the built environment has on the human experience.
