David Zaiser Joins HDR as Project Principal for Education, Science & Advanced Technologies
David Zaiser, AIA, has joined HDR as project principal for the education, science, and advanced technologies sector in the East region.
Based in Princeton, New Jersey, Zaiser will lead project teams and plan, direct, and execute projects in the higher education and science and technology markets throughout the eastern region of the United States. Zaiser comes to HDR from Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP where he was senior architect for college and university facilities. Prior to that, Zaiser was a partner with KSS Architects, where he spent over 20 years building his career.
Zaiser has more than 30 years of experience leading a broad cross-section of successful, award-winning projects on more than three dozen college and university campuses. His expansive portfolio includes teaching and learning spaces, library projects, laboratory renovations, dining facilities, art studios, theatres, student housing and student activity spaces.
“We are very excited to have David join our Princeton team. David’s long history of successfully delivering all types of projects for higher education clients will further strengthen HDR’s credentials,” said Kevin Jelinek, director for education, science and advanced technologies in the East Region. “In addition, his passion for higher education planning and design allows us to continue to respond to the very dynamic and different ways in which future students and faculty will use all parts of the campus.”
Zaiser uses an evidence-based approach to campus programming, planning and design. He is interested in how research into learning, cognition and student success can inform the design of effective learning environments. A recognized expert in higher education design, he has co-chaired several conferences for and is an active member of the Society for College and University Planning.
