HDR’s Tippey Appointed AWWA Water Treatment Facilities Design & Construction Committee Chair
Brent Tippey, P.E., was recently appointed Committee Chair for the American Water Works Association’s Water Treatment Facilities Design & Construction Committee. During his three-year term, Brent will help guide the committee to advance industry knowledge, policy, publications, conferences, workshops, webinars, online courses and research.
“We are excited to see Brent serve in this role,” said Pierre Kwan, HDR’s water treatment technical director. “His technical knowledge and practical experience will help guide this committee, and in turn, have a great impact on our industry.”
Tippey is a principal project manager and licensed professional engineer. With about 30 years in the industry, he has successfully managed or technically led close to $1 billion in capital improvements projects, including nearly 50 different water treatment facilities and transmission infrastructure projects in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Texas.
Tippey has served in officer roles of his local AWWA chapter along with different committees for the national AWWA organization. He was recently elected to the AWWA Board of Directors representing the Kentucky-Tennessee Section.
He regularly presents at industry conferences on topics including on-site generation of sodium hypochlorite, compliance with regulations using granular activated carbon and dealing with harmful algal blooms. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky.
