Lee Mauney Receives ASDSO Young Professional Award
Lee Mauney, dam, levee and civil works project manager with HDR, has been selected by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials as the national 2021 Young Professional of the Year. The annual award recognizes professionals under 40 years of age working in the dam safety field who have made outstanding contributions to ASDSO, their respective organization and/or the dam safety industry in general.
Mauney is an active member of ASDSO, where he is the co-chair of the Dam Failures and Incidents Committee and leads a subcommittee. He also serves on the ASDSO annual conference planning committee, has developed several case studies for ASDSO’s damfailures.org website and established the ASDSO Book Review, which is featured in each issue of the Journal of Dam Safety.
Mauney has experience specializing in applying risk-informed decision making, consequence analysis, flood hydrology, instrumentation and flood warning systems for dam and levee safety programs. He is a professional engineer and certified floodplain manager. Mauney holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in environmental and water resources engineering from the University of Tennessee.
