New Parkland Hospital Wins ASHE Vista Award

The American Society for Health Care Engineering of the American Hospital Association selected New Parkland Hospital as the 2021 Vista Award winner. The Vista Awards aim to highlight professionals who are at the forefront of healthcare design and construction innovation.

“Rarely do massive health care projects with multiple partners come in on schedule and $30 million under budget, but that’s exactly what this team accomplished for the Parkland Health and Hospital System replacement hospital in Dallas,” ASHE commented. “The project team had an enormous responsibility to create a sound plan for the design and construction of this new health care campus to meet the needs of the community.”

The design and masterplan for the new 64-acre healthcare campus and 2.1 million-square-foot replacement hospital was completed through an integrated project delivery approach with a team that included HDR, Corgan and BARA.

“At its essence, this was about the design of a new health care campus and replacement hospital,” said Hank Adams, AIA, FACHA, EDAC, global director of health at HDR. “But the design was distinctly about the medical center’s relevance and importance as a civic anchor and its connection to the city’s urban fabric.”
