Som Bose Joins HDR as Principal Planner

Som Bose, Architect AIBC, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, has joined HDR as principal planner. Bose will be based out of the Vancouver, British Columbia, office, further expanding HDR’s world-class lab planning expertise into Canada.
In his role, Bose will support education, science and advanced technologies projects across the country, providing expertise related to lab programming and planning for life and physical sciences and advanced research facilities. Bose comes to HDR from Architecture49, Inc. where he served as regional science and technology leader for the last five years.

His diverse experience across a variety of research environments in North America and beyond will be a great asset to our clients in solving their challenges of today and tomorrow,” states Steve Riojas, global director of HDR’s education, science and advanced technologies practice.
Bose has amassed an impressive portfolio over the last 20 years that covers a wide range of geographies and scientific disciplines. From Canada to the United States to Malaysia, Bose has worked on everything from tenant improvements to new builds to master plans for pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and world-renowned federal laboratories. His clients have included Battelle, Eli Lilly, Amway, GE, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Bose is a founding member of AIA Canada Society and a former board member for Sustainable Laboratories Canada. An industry thought leader in science and technology architecture and design, he has presented at both the SLCan conference and the International Centre for Infectious Diseases Biosafety Symposium.
