Bryan Hughes Joins HDR as Power Business Development Lead

Bryan Hughes has joined HDR as power business development lead for the Southwestern U.S. region.

Based near Pismo Beach, California, Hughes will build strong relationships with HDR’s power clients in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Hawaii. His primary responsibilities are developing business development strategies and serving as a key client manager.

“Bryan brings a tremendous knowledge of power and water markets in the Southwest,” said Angela Piner, power business development director. “We’re excited to have him at HDR to lead our teams and leverage his expertise to help build partnerships with clients.”  

Hughes has over 20 years of experience developing business in the power, water and transportation markets. Most recently he was global projects director at Hach, introducing an international program that boosted revenue and grew market share. He also served as regional manager at Black & Veatch, overseeing a $300 million portfolio that included major Southwest power utility clients. 

“There are a great many challenges in need of creative solutions, and HDR brings so much potential value to this space,” Hughes said. “The breadth of resources and expertise here is truly special.” 

Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree in aquatic biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and master’s degree in education from National University, Los Angeles.
