Cox Joins HDR as Principal Planner in Seattle

HDR is pleased to announce that Jim Cox, AIA, has joined HDR as principal planner for the education, science, and advanced technologies sector. While he will support project teams across the globe, Cox is based in Seattle.

In his role, Cox will lead laboratory programming and planning for a broad range of education, science and advanced technology projects. He will work together with designers, project architects, building engineers, and other design professionals as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

Trained as an architect, Cox has over 35 years of experience in the industry, with over 20 years of focus on laboratory facility planning and design. He has worked closely with corporate and academic clients and design teams to develop efficient and functional laboratory concepts that support both the client’s current needs and their long-term research mission.

The breadth of Cox’s portfolio spans biotechnology, analytical research, and research and development facilities, containment and quarantine facilities; clinical and public health laboratories; academic research and teaching facilities; and large and small animal vivaria. Past clients have included Purdue University, Rutgers University, Ohio State University, Northwestern University, University of Maryland, Ohio University, Genentech, Seattle Genetics, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer.
