HDR Sponsors New WTS International Scholarship, Applications Due March 11

As part of its commitment to the development of women in the transportation field, HDR is sponsoring a new $5,000 Corporate Sponsor Scholarship through the WTS International Foundation. The scholarship will go toward undergraduate and graduate women students pursuing a degree and/or career in a transportation-related area.

This sponsorship is part of HDR’s strategic level partner commitment and its longstanding support of the WTS mission to advance women in transportation. More than 250 HDR employees are members of WTS chapters across North America, with many serving in leadership roles. The firm was recently named WTS Colorado’s employer of the year for consistently supporting the professional development of women in transportation.

“HDR is proud to support the WTS Foundation and its investments in scholarships for women as we all work towards building the next generation of a diverse and talented workforce,” said Tom McLaughlin, HDR Executive Vice President and Transportation President. “We all benefit when we come together to create a more inclusive environment for professional development to meet future needs in the transportation field.”

The WTS Corporate Sponsor Scholarship application is now open and will close on March 11, 2022. Eligibility is based on the applicant’s transportation goals, academic record and transportation-related activities or job skills. Scholarships will be awarded at the WTS Annual Conference in Seattle, Washington the week of May 16. In addition to supporting the WTS International Foundation, HDR is proud to partner with more than 50 universities on its HDR Scholarship Program launched in 2017. Under the direction of our business line leaders and with a goal to invest in the future of inspiring engineers and architects, the program’s aim is to foster relationships with schools that offer programs aligned with our vision and values. Annually, our scholarship committee awards $5,000 to $10,000 scholarships and paid internships to students enrolled in a college-level program related to an HDR business area.
