HDR’s Justin De La Rosa Honored as ASCE ‘New Face of Civil Engineering’

Justin De La Rosa, P.E., C.F.M., M.ASCE, a transportation engineer in HDR’s office in Corpus Christi, Texas, has been named one of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ New Faces of Civil Engineering 2022.

The award honors 10 early-career professional engineers nationwide who demonstrate community service work, organizational leadership, communication skills and industry involvement.

De La Rosa, who serves as ASCE’s Texas Section Corpus Christi Branch vice president, graduated from Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, both in civil engineering.

As part of the award, De La Rosa shared with Civil Engineering Source his path to becoming an engineer, overcoming financial adversity to obtain two degrees. He also spoke about his excitement about using emerging technologies in his work.

“HDR is a global company, so we can work on projects all over the world, but my passion is for projects that are located right in my backyard to help make Corpus better,” he said.

De La Rosa and the other winners will be honored at ASCE’s Outstanding Projects and Leaders awards gala in October in Anaheim, California.
