Madeline Julian, AIA, LEED AP, has joined HDR as a health principal based in HDR’s New York City architecture studio. In this role, Julian will bring over 20 years of industry experience to building strong relationships with new and existing health clients while further growing HDR’s reputation throughout the greater metropolitan area.

“With the growth of our New York health practice, we are thrilled to have Madeline Julian join our leadership team,” said HDR East Region Director of Health Sandy Tkacz, AIA, ACHA, EDAC, NCARB. “Madeline has been working for health systems for many years and she brings a great depth of insight from the client’s perspective that will inform how we advance our service delivery and client management strategies. We look forward to Madeline’s energy, excitement to expand our reach, and her healthcare design expertise.”

“Designing and building spaces that are patient- and human-centered is very important to me. This has been my focus and passion over the last 20 years, especially knowing that at any given time any one of us or our loved ones can be a patient. HDR has a proven record of commitment and dedication to healthcare that is very exciting,” Julian said. “With clinical staff, experiential design experts, and full in-house engineering services, HDR’s expertise and resources are incomparable. It has the mindfulness and tools required to offer our clients tailored, progressive solutions from project inception to facility handovers.”

Julian will bring invaluable client insights to her work at HDR, having worked on the client side of health design for the last ten years. Prior to joining HDR, Julian served as the senior director of project development, planning design and construction at Mount Sinai Health System in New York. She earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Pratt Institute.
