Trip Grant, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted to managing principal of HDR’s architecture practice in Los Angeles. Grant has over 30 years of global experience, the last eight at HDR as a principal in the firm’s education, science and advanced technology practice. In his new role, he will set the strategic vision for the office, ensure the financial stability of the practice, and work with market sector and project leaders to deliver design excellence to our clients.

In his most recent position, Grant helped grow the sector practice from a studio of two to the thriving practice it is today. “I find it very rewarding to work across our market sectors and business groups to find connections and synergies that enhance our ability to serve our clients,” he said.

Grant’s early career was spent developing a solid foundation of architecture experience across a wide variety of project types and sizes. He also spent five years in southeast Asia working on large, complex high-tech projects for the semi-conductor industry. When he returned to the United States, Grant’s focus shifted to nanotechnology as well as physical and life science facilities. For the last 15 years, he has been based in Los Angeles serving private and public institutional clients for world-class facilities in science, education and health.

“I am passionate about the field of architecture and more specifically about the project types I have been fortunate enough to work on — we create spaces where great things happen for very mission-driven clients,” Grant said. “Our diverse bench of expertise means I can find an HDR expert for almost any project challenge. Additionally, our strong commitment to sustainability and the available resources and expertise we have in this area means we can make a long-term meaningful impact.”
