Amy Williams, AIA, LEED AP
Managing Principal
“The choice of architecture as a career has been a magnificent journey. We have the privilege of being artists, and our clients’ spaces and programs are the canvas. We’re challenged to help influence how our clients see great design by taking them on a journey and bringing in our thinking from the other side of the table.”
Amy is an award-winning licensed architect in Minnesota, Michigan, Nevada, Utah and Washington. She started her career at HDR in 2013 as the managing principal of the Los Angeles architecture studio, where she lead its growth from a single-market studio to a diversified practice serving the health; education, science, and advanced tech; and civic markets. Her strength lies in practice-building, which she achieves through continued focus on both design advancements and client satisfaction.
In 2017, Amy took on an expanded role as the associate director of architecture for the Western region, in addition to transferring to the Minneapolis architecture studio to serve in the managing principal role. Seeing this as an opportunity to foster consistency across our offices as the company continues to grow, Amy is focused on diversification of the Minneapolis studio, while lending her support and collaboration to the other HDR studios in the Western region.
Amy has lead significant health projects for clients including Kaiser Permanente, Intermountain Healthcare and Huntington Hospital. With more than 20 years of architectural experience, she is passionate about delivering projects that have value and inspirational design. Her innovative planning ability leads design teams in a focused direction, while her fast and skillful organization allows them to continually explore new ways of resolving functional and programmatic demands with creativity.
