Bill Ahlert, Ph. D.
Senior Technical Advisor
Bill leads our power plant decommissioning, coal combustion residuals groundwater assessment, and RCRA corrective action programs. He works closely with clients to develop solutions to groundwater quality issues, including corrective measures and remedial options for groundwater impacts that threaten human health and the environment.
Bill is passionate about developing strategies to address legacy environmental impacts associated with historical industrial activities, and facilitating the cleanup and redevelopment of closed, abandoned and underutilized industrial sites. He oversaw the cleanup and redevelopment of one of the nation’s largest former manufacturing operations — a 1,600-acre steel mill — under EPA’s RCRA corrective action program. The project received a prestigious Phoenix Award for brownfield redevelopment.
Bill has authored a number of articles and presentations at various national venues on the innovative approach and strategies used to complete this successful project.
