Colleen Scholl (Layman), P.E.
Power-Water Practice Manager
As the manager of our power-water practice, Colleen Scholl (Layman) specializes in water and wastewater treatment and steam/water cycle chemistry. Her understanding of power plant processes and optimizing water systems for more streamlined operations has helped clients meet strict regulatory requirements and discharge limits.
Colleen loves to put on her safety gear and head out to power plants, where she’s spent much of her career, first as an operator and later during project construction and start-up. She thrives on working with clients to take on complex engineering challenges.
A former president of the Society of Women Engineers, Colleen is deeply committed to advancing the industry and mentoring junior engineers. She was honored to follow in the footsteps of her mentors when she was awarded the International Water Conference Annual Merit Award in 2016.
Colleen has authored more than 25 articles in major industrial water and power plant publications, and regularly speaks at industry conferences.
