Connor Christian, EIT
Transportation BIM Program Manager
“I am passionate about using technology to make everyone better at achieving their goals. I enjoy knowing that I can help every individual be more successful which ultimately leads to a more successful company, happier clients and the highest quality infrastructure for everyone that comes into contact with a project designed by HDR.”
As transportation building information modeling program manager, Connor provides a strategic vision for successful implementation of the modeling technology throughout our transportation practice. He enables us, our clients and our partners to have a seamless data exchange that results in the most efficient use of everyone's expertise.
Connor's goal is to bring new technology into daily practice and help lead the industry’s transition to a data-centric working environment by creating procedures and tools that can be used by everyone. That approach was evident in Connor’s work on projects such as the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and I-80 bridge replacement in Utah at Blackrock. Both projects have been influential in demonstrating the value of BIM and international standards on infrastructure projects. Our work on the Cuomo Bridge earned the Building SMART International award for “The Use of Open Technology in Operations and Maintenance.”
Outside of HDR, Connor has worked to make BIM successful for the industry as a whole, including extensive work on international modeling standards. He is involved in American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the Building SMART Alliance, Building SMART International, the BIMForum, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers/Industry BIM Consortia, the Construction Progress Coalition and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He also presents regularly at technology conferences, including IHEEP, Autodesk University, Trimble Dimensions, Sketchup Basecamp, NIBS Building Innovation and Bluebeam Extreme.
