Kristen Ampela, Ph.D.

Senior Marine Scientist, Conservation and Planning

Kristen is a marine biologist with more than 20 years of experience studying the effects of human activity on marine life. She studies marine mammals, seabirds, intertidal algae and invertebrates, and coral reefs.

She conducted her doctoral research on seal foraging ecology and fishery interactions, and she is a member of the Society for Marine Mammalogy and the Northwest Atlantic Seal Research Consortium.

Among her projects, Kristen helps clients understand and mitigate the impacts of offshore renewable energy development and at-sea military activities on marine-protected species.
