North Beach CSO Reduction

North Beach CSO Reduction
HDR prepared final design documents for a buried 0.33 MG storage facility located primarily in street right-of-way in a fully developed residential neighborhood adjacent to the North Beach pump station. The project is currently in construction and includes a storage facility within the rights-of-way and on the County’s North Beach sump station property, a mechanical/electrical building, an overflow structure that includes a new overflow weir to divert overflows to the County’s existing Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) outfall, and modifications to the existing North Beach pump station.
Key Project Characteristics:
- Developed siting and storage alternatives (pipe storage, cast-in-place tank)
- Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) and sustainable features considered in the design
- Compared alternatives based on criteria and life-cycle costs
- Attended and facilitated public meetings and stakeholder presentations
- Storage facility required Street Improvement Permit (SIP) , Term, and Council Conditional Use permits
- Used permeable pavement on pump station and facilities building site.
