A Signature Design

The Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector Headquarters is a contemporary administrative campus with a signature design. We developed a three-phase master plan for the campus that serves over 2,000 agents. Embodying a sense of community, a curved, tree-lined promenade is punctuated by the main administration buildings, forming the entry and a grand central courtyard beyond.

At the courtyard perimeter, the extended roof overhangs allow exterior pedestrian circulation, shading occupants from the elements. With sunshades placed over windows, views are maximized while unwanted heat gain is minimized. Consequently, excessive reliance on cooling systems is reduced and daylight is bounced deeper into the building.

Components of the new facility include:

  • Administration Building (Management, Support Services, Enforcement)
  • Exercise and Lockers
  • Training Building
  • Asset Forfeiture
  • Canine Offices and Daycare Kennels
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Electronic Shops
  • Supply Warehouse
