Village of Ridgewood Biogas Recovery System

Envision a biogas system that’s energy self-sufficient and 100 percent privately financed.

And meet the municipality that's turning that into a reality.

The village of Ridgewood, N.J. decided to manage their waste as a resource in order to reach goals of improving affordability, resiliency and sustainability for their wastewater treatment system.

So we're working in a public-private partnership with the village and Ridgewood Green RME to provide permitting and design engineering services for the wastewater treatment and biogas recovery systems that'll enable them to get there. The biogas process will come together when liquid waste enters the system through a receiving station and is pumped into a receiving tank that feeds into the plant's existing anaerobic digester.

The village's system will create 240 kilowatts of electricity. That's enough to power the treatment plant and heat the digester to operating temperature while lowering their carbon footprint.
