Securing the Mission 24/7

The USSTRATCOM command and control headquarters complex is one of eight U.S. Department of Defense joint forces command centres. Due to the importance of the USSTRATCOM mission — detecting and deterring strategic attacks against the U.S. and our allies — the global operation centre is designed to maintain 24/7 operation for up to two weeks after mission support facilities have been destroyed. The structural design can withstand high wind speeds of 140 mph.

Key components include:

• A secure mission-critical Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) administrative office spaces that accommodate three different types of space SCIF, open storage and non-classified offices, which can convert to different office types as needs change.
• A Global Operation Centre (GOC) with High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) shielding
• Two secure data centres
• Remaining spaces include convertible open storage administrative support spaces, a 400-seat auditorium; conference centre; training centre; two cooling tower/generator facilities; a loading and warehouse building and a visitor centre.

Together with the headquarters, these facilities form a cohesive military headquarters compound.
