12 HDR Canada Fund Grants Demonstrate Employee Impact in Communities
The HDR Canada Fund awarded 12 grants totaling CA$37,326, demonstrating the commitment of HDR employees to make an impact in their communities across Canada.
Two grants support organisations with HDR employees serving as frequent volunteers.
The first will promote early engagement and literacy in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by funding the necessary supplies needed for 30 workshops taking place in grade schools across British Columbia.
“MineralsEd is deserving of this HDR Canada Fund grant because they are doing the hard work of providing hands-on activities and information, connecting with the next generation of geoscientists — and the educators who support them — to inspire them to take on vital resource sector careers in science, technology and engineering,” said Kylie Williams, HDR communications and media lead in Canada.
The second employee-sponsored grant supports environmental stewardship by improving the rehabilitation capacities of a wildlife conservatory in Calgary.
“In 2025, the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation admitted into care nearly 400 ducklings over four months, many of which I brought in myself,” said James Hudyma, HDR senior civil designer. “This new project will expand their brooder capacity to ensure all ducklings will receive the species-specific care that is required. I am excited to be part of this important project that will support successful rehabilitation and release of various species of waterfowl back into their natural habitats.”
The additional grants support 10 food banks across Canada as part of an incentive for HDR offices that reached a donation goal on the Day of Giving, an annual HDR Foundation fundraiser.
“These local food bank donations will directly support individuals and families facing food insecurity in the communities where we live and work across Canada,” said Kim Gosteli, HDR national business development director in Canada. “It’s a meaningful way for us to give back, helping ensure our neighbors have access to the nourishment and support they need during these challenging times.”
