Two HDR projects have been shortlisted in two categories in the 2026 Indo-Pacific INDE.Awards, a program that recognises projects, products and emerging talent that represent the best of architecture and design across the Indo-Pacific region.
Pyrmont Bridge East Amenities Refurbishment
The Pyrmont Bridge East Amenities Refurbishment, shortlisted in the Health and Wellbeing Space category, prioritises accessibility and durability in a reimagined public amenity within Sydney’s Darling Harbour precinct. In an effort to reduce embodied carbon and operational disruption, the project takes a low-impact approach to the thoughtful and vibrant architectural renewal of an existing public facility. The interiors reference Pyrmont Bridge’s existing colour palette, blending terracotta and a sandstone façade to echo the natural patina, while a sustainable and inclusive design that includes features such as child/carer cubicles, accessible amenities and natural ventilation delivers a practical and welcoming civic space.
Factory of the Future
Shortlisted in the Learning Space category, the Factory of the Future, located within Western Sydney University’s Bankstown City Campus, establishes an immersive platform for students, researchers and the community to engage in collaborative innovation in a technology-rich environment. The Factory’s design focuses on making emerging technologies visible and approachable, with two interconnected levels allowing students to seamlessly explore advanced manufacturing and robotics in one cohesive environment. The project’s centerpiece – the Innovation Engine – serves as both a wayfinding element and a didactic device, drawing students in and translating advanced concepts into an immersive learning experience.
