Powerful Relicensings Reinforce Grid Reliability, Engage Community

Managing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) relicensing process is an important part of operating U.S. hydropower facilities, with complex technical and environmental reviews, and a stakeholder feedback process. Brookfield Renewable brought on HDR to serve as the lead consultant on two relicensing projects in the Northeast U.S., including a large pumped storage project, necessitating a unique approach.

High Altitude Power for Big Sky Resort

Big Sky Resort is a ski destination with more than 5,800 acres of snowy and mountainous terrain. As part of a reimagined mountaintop experience, the resort replaced an aging tram with the stunning Lone Peak Tram, bringing in HDR to design an upgraded power system delivering reliable power to the resort’s 11,166-foot peak.
