HDR’s Shannon Ostendorff Selected for Water Environment Federation House of Delegates
Shannon Ostendorff, Oregon’s drinking water and wastewater lead based in HDR’s Bend, Oregon office, has been selected by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) as a Delegate at Large representing the national constituency of Women in Operations and Engineering.
In this prestigious leadership role, Ostendorff will serve a three-year term on WEF's House of Delegates, the federation's deliberative and representative body that advises the WEF Board of Trustees on strategic direction, public policy and key industry initiatives. As a Delegate at Large, she will serve as a national voice for women working in operations and engineering, helping advocate for their perspectives and priorities throughout WEF's leadership and decision-making processes.
Ostendorff's selection reflects a career-long commitment to elevating women in the water sector. As a past president of the Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association (PNCWA), she helped develop the annual women's networking event at the PNCWA Conference, establish the annual PNCWA Women of the Year award and helped launch the PNCWA instance of InFlow (now Wave). Her passion for advancing women in the profession began even earlier as a member of the first PNCWA Women's Operations Challenge team, the “Wonder Women of Wastewater,” which helped inspire and brand PNCWA's annual networking event, the Wonder Women of Water.
“Through her leadership, mentorship and advocacy, Shannon has helped create lasting opportunities for women across the water industry in the Pacific Northwest,” said Kristin Kihs, HDR’s business development manager for Oregon. “She will now bring that experience to the national stage through her service on the WEF House of Delegates.”
