As our transportation BIM program manager, Alexa supports our transportation clients in implementing building information modeling processes throughout the project life cycle. Her goal is to help our clients optimize often underutilized technology and effectively navigate the changing environment of BIM and its impacts on project delivery. Whether determining the proper data workflow, using a 3D model as the legal design document, or helping in construction and asset management, her guidance adds value to complex infrastructure projects.

A background in both national-level research and state-level implementation means she can apply best practices and lessons learned from across the country to local projects. Alexa works closely with design and construction inspection staff to improve interdisciplinary coordination, proactively manage project risks and optimize constructability. She is involved in the delivery of several industry-shaping studies and projects, including the Transportation Research Board’s TFRS-02 Lifecycle BIM for Infrastructure: A Business Case for Project Delivery and Asset Management, which evaluates the business case for BIM in the U.S as well as the U.S. BIM for Bridges and Structures Pooled Fund program. State Department of Transportation projects that are paving the way for digital delivery adoption include the PennDOT Digital Delivery 2025 Initiative as well as the creation of Utah DOT’s Model Development Specifications.

Alexa’s 20-plus years of experience includes work in both the public and private sectors, providing program management as well as research and policy development expertise. She presents regularly at conferences and has been active throughout the industry, involved in working groups and committees put together by the Federal Highway Administration, Transportation Research Board, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the Highway Engineering Exchange Program and buildingSMART.
