Mark Fairweather, RPEQ, CPEng
As managing director of HDR’s engineering practice, Mark is responsible for HDR’s ongoing operations and continued growth in the engineering market within Australia. He leads a team of 50 professionals from HDR’s Brisbane office, working in and across projects for our clients across Australia and beyond.
With over 25 years of experience in transport and infrastructure engineering, Mark has managed and led large multi-disciplinary teams on a number of transportation projects through the concept planning, preliminary and detailed design phases. He has proven expertise in highway planning & design, rail projects, approvals and key stakeholder engagement — both within teams and also supporting through project director/board member roles.
Mark has held senior roles on a number of signature projects in South-East Queensland, such as:

- Ipswich Motorway Planning
- Gateway Upgrade South D&C
- Various Bruce Highway Planning and Design Upgrades
- Centenary Motorway Planning
- Kenmore Bypass Planning
- Moreton Bay Rail Planning, Design and Construction
- Gold Coast Airport Planning
Mark has actively participated in industry associations for many years, including as Chair of the Infrastructure Association of Queensland. He is currently a Mentor in the Roads Australia Fellowship program, and a Fellow of Engineers Australia.
