Laurie Bull Joins HDR as Architecture Project Management Director
Laurie Bull, AIA, has joined HDR as the global firm’s director of project management for Architecture.
A dynamic and results-oriented architect, manager and practice leader based in Seattle, Laurie will elevate HDR’s project management standards and processes, strengthen and support the project management career path and ultimately bolster the long-term success of project management to create the best possible experience for clients, partners and teams.
“Project managers have the unique opportunity to bring everyone to the table in an atmosphere of collaboration, interdisciplinary excellence and high-quality communication, and I am excited to create a community of practice where architecture project managers have a network of support,” said Laurie. “I believe in the power of project management excellence and am thrilled to have a role with the breadth and depth to make a results-driven impact. The opportunity to positively influence the built environment, end users and communities inspires me.”
With 30 years of experience managing cross-disciplinary teams of design professionals for highly complex projects across market types, Bull most recently served in senior project manager and studio leader roles with other leading architecture firms. In her new role, HDR will look for Laurie to build the community of practice in support of our current and future project managers, support a learning environment to adopt new and innovative best practices, and be an advocate, champion and expert resource for architecture project managers.
“Laurie has decades of experience in strategic planning, operational oversight and practice building and is passionate about highly effective project management," said Chris Bormann, global director, professional services, Architecture, HDR. "We are eager for her to advocate for design excellence in management, seek process innovations and strengthen our project management career pathway. Project Managers are central to our ability to successfully deliver world-changing solutions to our clients, so we have decided to nurture their careers in a very deliberate way.”
A licensed architect in Washington state and trained as a professional coach in change management and lean delivery, Bull is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Seattle chapters.
