An Active, Healthy Transit-Oriented Community

One of the last unbuilt portions of Calgary’s jurisdictional boundary, the planned Alpine Park community is also an important planning project for the City of Calgary, as evidenced by the sizeable transit and infrastructure investment being made by the city authorities.

The Alpine Park site is outstanding in its location, topography and expansive views of downtown Calgary and the mountains. As it considered how to design this rare opportunity, Dream Development turned to HDR | Calthorpe to develop a concept master plan.

The design concept for Alpine Park envisages a vibrant, mixed-use community that includes residential neighborhoods, employment nodes, retail destinations and civic spaces. The community would be transit-oriented and all its key destinations and amenities would be linked through a robust green network of parks and trails, promoting healthy living. A healthy jobs-to-housing ratio will lead to reduced commutes and further promote an active, 24-hour community.
