HDR's Doug Jackson Discusses Building Community Trust on Transit Projects

Doug Jackson, HDR’s Transportation project management director, recently talked with Metro magazine about the importance of gaining the buy-in of stakeholders and the community on transit projects.

With 25 years of experience, Jackson has worked on high-profile and complex transit projects across North America. He shared how important it is to determine if key stakeholders and project partners are on board and have a shared vision.

“It’s critical to understand potential barriers from the start and develop strategies to mitigate costly delays or failure,” Jackson said. “Putting in the effort to build that consensus is a fundamental part of delivering a successful project on time, cost-effectively, and with quality.”

Jackson also highlighted how public outreach and engagement must continue throughout a project’s life cycle from preliminary design to final design and during construction.
