HDR Once Again Named One of Canada’s Greenest Employers
HDR has once again been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. as part of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.
This is the second consecutive year HDR has earned this distinction in the national editorial competition, which evaluates employers from a job-seeker’s perspective. The designation reflects the growing demand among workers for employers whose values align with their social and environmental priorities and recognizes organizations with strong, credible sustainability leadership.
“At HDR, making our projects and operations sustainable, resilient and equitable is at the core of who we are,” said Jim McKay, HDR’s managing director for Canada. “We walk the talk with the services we provide and our own actions. Across Canada, our volunteer Sustainability Stewards Program connects like-minded employees to learn together, have fun and improve their local communities through meaningful environmental stewardship activities.”
Canada’s Greenest Employers are selected based on the unique environmental initiatives and programs they have developed, their success in reducing their own environmental footprint, the level of employee involvement in the programs and how closely the initiatives are tied to the employer’s public identity and helping attract new employees and clients.
Over the past 12 months, HDR employees across Canada have planted hundreds of trees and carried out clean‑ups in dozens of local neighbourhoods, collected used bottles for recycling, propagated office plants and built personal terrariums, conducted surveys, lunch and learns, and waste audits, and supported local beekeepers by gifting locally produced honey and native wildflower seeds for backyard planting to support pollination.
