Alejandro likes economics because its goal is to understand and predict human behavior in order to make better decisions. He uses sophisticated economic tools to help our clients develop policy recommendations or funding strategies, identify the benefits of a proposed project or assess new markets. And like human behavior, the data sometimes leads to unexpected results. Helping clients grasp why is what he’s most passionate about.
Alejandro specializes in border-crossing and freight-related projects. Prior to joining HDR, he served in the cabinet of Mexican President Felipe Calderon as chief adviser to the Undersecretary of Transportation. And since he joined us, he has helped develop a master plan for the recently expanded Panama Canal.
Alejandro has twice presented to the Transportation Research Board, first related to localized U.S.-Mexico trade and then on the quantification of benefits realized from deploying WiFi to U.S. inland waterways.
