HDR's Maddi Packard Named to 40 Under 40 by Consulting-Specifying Engineer

Maddi Packard, controls section manager, has been selected in Consulting-Specifying Engineer's 40 Under 40 program for 2025.

The program celebrates engineers and building professionals who have excelled in various disciplines within engineering and construction, showcasing innovation, leadership, mentorship, sustainability and community involvement. These individuals share common values and have made significant contributions to their fields and societies.

Packard joined HDR straight out of college and quickly demonstrated her enthusiasm for the profession. She impressed clients with her professionalism and was soon trusted to lead client meetings. Her rapid growth in technical expertise and leadership skills led to her promotion to controls section manager at just 29. She now leads a diverse team with confidence and respect.

Beyond her technical skills, Packard is a passionate advocate for mentorship, both as a mentor and mentee. Her exceptional interpersonal skills help her navigate complex challenges and foster a collaborative and respectful team culture. She is always open to feedback, using this to improve herself and elevate those around her.

Packard's impact extends beyond her team, playing a pivotal role in the Young Professionals Group as networking chair. She has organised events and activities that have strengthened HDR's communities. Known for her resourcefulness, she has devised innovative solutions to technical challenges and has handled sensitive personnel matters with empathy and professionalism, always striving to balance the needs of the organisation and her colleagues.
