Knowledge Session 3 in The Expo: Collaboration Between the Public and Private Sector to Deliver Successful Mega Projects
- 1:30-3 p.m. | Hall A (Upper Concourse)
- Moderator: Victoria Sheehan
In delivering complex mega projects, state DOTs, supported by effective private-sector collaboration, are adapting delivery models, responding to changing conditions, and delivering lasting improvements, keeping safety, mobility, and long-term corridor performance at the center of decision making. Successful delivery of mega projects reflects a deliberate focus on program-level governance, risk management, and integration across planning, design, construction, and communications. State DOTs have moved beyond managing isolated projects to leading coordinated corridor programs — sequencing investments, managing multiple delivery packages, and maintaining alignment with funding realities, stakeholder expectations, and environmental commitments over long-time horizons.
This session will explore how effective collaboration between public agencies and private-sector partners drives the successful delivery of complex mega projects. Through real-world experiences and lessons learned, this session will highlight proven strategies, critical decisions, and leadership practices and provide practical insights that agencies and industry partners can apply to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative transportation projects.
