Lead and Copper Rule Revisions Mean Big Change for Utilities

The LCRR represents the most significant change to the Safe Drinking Water Act in over 20 years. The rule impacts virtually every drinking water utility in the United States and compliance will come at a high price for many. Planning and preparation are important as the compliance deadline approaches in October 2024.

What Does Compliance Look Like?

Compliance will ultimately require a holistic approach requiring all hands on deck. Cooperation will be needed amongst various water system services, including laboratory monitoring and testing services, public outreach, treatment and field operations, engineering and key leadership personnel. In addition, customer and other stakeholder coordination is paramount for rule compliance.
