Support for Australian Communities Reflects Employee Compassion
Nine HDR Australia Fund grants totalling AU$31,550 demonstrate the compassion of HDR employees for less fortunate members of their communities.
Funded by employee donations, each grant is sponsored by an Australian employee with a passion for the cause. The grants align with three focus areas: education, healthy communities and environmental stewardship.
Sponsored by Huai Lim, HDR managing principal, a grant to Fitted for Work will fund the Bags of Hope project, providing handbags and suitcases filled with essential personal care products to women facing domestic violence.
“Their focus was founded on supporting underprivileged women by providing professional clothing to help them reenter the workforce,” Lim said. “But importantly, Fitted for Work makes a huge difference to empowering people and creating job security.”
Katya Ginsberg, HDR global regions communications lead, sponsored a grant supporting the sourcing, development and publication of research related to Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), a rare genetic condition.
“This grant will help Tuberous Sclerosis Australia make global TSC research more accessible by translating complex information into clear, practical insights for families and health professionals,” Ginsberg said. “My hope is that it helps families feel more empowered to advocate for the care they need while navigating what can often feel like an uncertain path.”
Three grants support food banks in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne as part of an incentive for offices that reached donation goals during the annual Day of Giving employee fundraiser for the HDR Foundation and global philanthropic funds in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. Every office in Australia met the donation goal this year.
