Climate Resiliency Lead for Architecture & Planning
As an architect, planner and urban designer, Nathalie brings design and stakeholder engagement to the forefront of her projects, working for the development of resilient buildings, grey and green infrastructures, nature-based solutions and innovation for integrated design approaches. Her work also centers on the built and social environments and economic impact assessments.
Natalie collaborates with the many of our experts to provide complete solutions to address infrastructure, urban environment, natural ecosystems and human wellness, using resiliency to climate change as a transforming event for improving the built environment and operation processes.
Nathalie worked for 9 years with the City of Cambridge to develop one of the first climate change vulnerability assessments in the nation. She led a team of consultants and coordinated with researchers from several universities in Boston and across the U.S., as well as with NASA and the Boston Museum of Science supporting the City’s understanding of climate change and possible impacts. The research guided the development of solutions for the Resilient Cambridge plan providing for implementable strategies.
She has been teaching on resiliency and sustainability at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Northeastern University and Wentworth Institute of technology, since 2011. In 2016, she started the Boston Society of Architects/Boston Society of Landscape Architects Global Design Initiative for Refugee Children, which focuses on building playgrounds in refugee camps and in precarious urban conditions. The Initiative was awarded the 2020 American Institute of Architects National Collaborative Achievement Award.
