WISE Pump Station
A Regional Collaboration for a Renewable Water Supply
This project is a key component of the Water Infrastructure and Supply Efficiency (WISE) Partnership, a regional collaboration among Aurora Water, Denver Water, and multiple South Metro Water Supply Authority members. By leveraging unused capacity in Aurora’s Prairie Waters Project and surplus supplies from Denver Water, the partnership provides a sustainable, renewable water source that reduces reliance on nonrenewable groundwater.
HDR delivered preliminary design, final design, and construction phase services for the WISE Pump Station, a critical infrastructure supporting Parker Water and Sanitation District’s (PWSD) long-term water supply strategy. The facility is designed to deliver flows ranging from 0.78 to 22.2 million gallons per day (MGD), enabling PWSD to meet both current and future demand with flexibility and reliability.
The pump station includes a below-grade wet well, vertical turbine pumps, a hydropneumatic surge tank, and integrated chemical storage and feed systems for sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, and liquid ammonium sulfate. These systems support secondary disinfection and corrosion control, providing water quality and regulatory compliance while maintaining operational resilience.
Through thoughtful design and strong collaboration, our team helped deliver a scalable, efficient solution that strengthens regional water security, supports sustainable resource management, and enables PWSD to balance seasonal demand while protecting critical groundwater resources.
