Employees Support Over 100 Food Banks Following Day of Giving

HDR employees across the world lent a hand to address food insecurity in their communities through more than US$400,000 in grants to 109 local food banks.
The grants follow the annual Day of Giving employee fundraiser for the HDR Foundation and global philanthropic funds in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. The grants include US$397,000 awarded to 93 U.S. food banks, $37,500 to 11 Canada food banks, £3,000 to two U.K. food banks and AU$6,000 to three Australia food banks.
“We are excited to support so many local food banks and are thankful for the important work they do to address food insecurity in our communities,” said Stefanie Mosteller, executive director of the HDR Foundation. “By supporting healthy communities, we hope to nurture kindness and compassion, which is something I see in my colleagues every day. These grants would not be possible without their generosity.”
The grants were part of an incentive for offices that reached a donation goal on the Day of Giving. Employees from many offices organized food drives or volunteer opportunities to supplement the grant.
About 20 team members from the Raleigh, North Carolina, office volunteered for three hours at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, where they packaged over 870 boxes for eligible senior citizens in the community.
“The Day of Giving is an incredible opportunity to build excitement around the work of the HDR Foundation, as well as educate our staff on the local nonprofits we can impact with our donations,” said Kelsey Koterba, employee culture and engagement specialist. “Getting to serve at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina as a team really connected the dots for our staff. It was a reminder that the funds we raise during the Day of Giving are meant to go directly back into our local communities and assist in building long-term partnerships with these organizations.”
