HDR is dedicated to advancing sustainability and resilience through our operations, services and community engagement. Our Sustainability and Resiliency External Statement demonstrates our leadership in sustainability and resilience, including quality, safety, and corporate responsibility.
Our Principals:
- Compliance: Seek to adhere to all applicable environmental, sustainability and resilience laws, regulations, and required standards.
- Responsibility: Evaluate the environmental, community, and economic impact of our operations and services in decision-making processes, as appropriate.
- Advocacy: Collaborate with suppliers, clients, and partners to promote environmentally and socially responsible practices in their operations.
- Education: Equip employees and stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to address sustainability and resilience issues and decision-making.
- Innovation: Promote sustainable design principles and practices to conserve resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support resilient communities.
Our Actions:
- Resource efficiency: Empower efficiency practices using advanced modeling and technology to optimize resource use and climate adaptation including: waste minimization, sustainable procurement, energy and water reduction, decarbonization and resiliency.
- Education and awareness: Promote active participation in our sustainability initiatives through educational and awareness-raising programs
- Environmental stewardship: Encourage the adoption of sustainable and resilient practices in HDR operations and client projects through planning, design, construction and operations.
- Community engagement: Engage with our industry, academic, and local communities to elevate each other collectively through meaningful collaboration and service.
- Continuous improvement: Regularly review and evaluate our sustainability and resilience policies and practices and refine them to ensure they remain relevant, practical and effective.
- Employee engagement: Foster a culture of inclusion and engagement through support and resources to enhance environmental, social and economic outcomes with our operations, clients, and communities.
- Assessment, Mitigation, and Adaptation: Conduct risk assessments for projects and operations and integrate resilience planning into infrastructure and operational strategies, as appropriate.
- Transparency: Measure and report sustainability progress annually to ensure accountability.
