HDR’s Erin Slayton Elected Chair of WTS International
Erin Slayton, P.E., has been elected chair of WTS International, continuing a tradition of notable HDR participation in WTS. Her two-year term as chair follows two years as vice chair of the 10,000-member organization committed to advancing women in transportation.
Slayton serves as HDR’s program management director and has been an active participant with WTS for much of her 25-year career. Based in South Carolina, she helped charter the state chapter in 2019 after moving to the area.
“WTS International is an amazing organization, and I’m humbled to be a leader among all these phenomenal women,” Slayton said. “WTS has been a transformative part of my own career journey, and I look forward to supporting each of our 73 chapters in their day-to-day work expanding and improving opportunities for other women in our industry.”
HDR has long been involved with WTS and its mission and was recently named Employer of the Year by the organization for its commitment to supporting women in transportation. The firm is a proud Pinnacle Partner, and more than 250 employees across North America are engaged in WTS, where over 50 serve in chapter leadership positions. Slayton is the fourth leader to serve as chair of WTS International, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year.
“HDR has supported WTS for many years because its mission and principles align so closely with our own,” said HDR Transportation President Tom McLaughlin. “Building the next generation of transportation leadership depends on advancing opportunities for everyone, and Erin has been a powerful ambassador for that vision. Her leadership has already enriched careers and lives across the industry, and this role will only further that impact.”
Slayton was elected to the post by WTS members and sworn in May 7 at the conclusion of the WTS International Annual Conference.
